Our Philosophy
Integrating Florida Oolite into Naples Contemporary Architecture
Rooted in Florida Oolite
Oolite Naples is built around an appreciation for one of Florida’s most distinctive natural materials: Oolite limestone. Formed over thousands of years and defined by its natural texture, fossil markings, and warm coastal character, Oolite has long been part of South Florida’s architectural landscape.
Our philosophy is to preserve that character while finding new ways to incorporate Oolite into contemporary residential and commercial environments. Rather than treating the stone as simply another building material, we believe its natural variations should become part of the identity of each project.
Our Approach to Oolite Masonry
Every piece of Oolite is different. Its shape, porosity, texture, fossil patterns, and tonal variations influence how the stone can be selected, cut, positioned, and finished. Our approach to masonry begins with understanding those characteristics and allowing the material to work naturally within the architecture.
As shown in the home pictured here, Oolite can become an integral part of the structure and surrounding environment. The stone can form architectural columns and masonry features while continuing into pool areas, patio decking, walls, and surrounding hardscapes. Using Oolite across structural and finished surfaces creates continuity between the home, landscape, and outdoor living spaces.
Building With Oolite and Gulf Coast Character
Oolite Naples believes exceptional stonework should feel as though it belongs to its surroundings. That means creating spaces where architecture and landscape are connected rather than treated as separate elements.
From contemporary homes and commercial properties to pools, patios, rockscapes, walls, and custom masonry, our work is guided by the same principle: use Florida Oolite in ways that respect the natural character of the stone while meeting the design and functional requirements of each project.
The result is masonry that feels distinctly connected to Naples and Florida’s Gulf Coast—natural in character, intentional in design, and built to become a lasting part of the property.

Material Honesty
The Character of Florida Oolite
Florida Oolite is a distinctive limestone recognized for its porous texture, granular composition, and natural variation from one piece to another. Much of the Oolite found in South Florida is associated with the Miami Limestone formation, a geological deposit dating back around a hundred and twenty thousand years. We can explain that its name comes from the small, rounded grains of calcium carbonate that became cemented together over time, creating those pores, cavities, and irregular openings that give Oolite its character. Then we can mention the range: some stone is dense, some is highly porous. The color can shift from cream to beige to gray. Once it's quarried and cut, it can be finished clean and refined, or left rugged and highly textured.
Our commitment extends beyond the stonework itself. We take great pride in being knowledgeable stewards of Florida Oolite and hold ourselves accountable for understanding the material we work with—from its geological origins and history in South Florida to its characteristics, applications, and architectural uses today. That knowledge allows us to better serve homeowners, builders, landscape architects, and designers throughout our community, answer their questions accurately, and help them make informed decisions about the stone they choose for their properties. For us, working with Florida Oolite also means respecting its history and ensuring that the story behind this distinctive South Florida stone is represented accurately for the people and communities we serve.
